OUR WORK

Our Mission

Our mission is to empower girls through sport.

At Raising Her Game we are dedicated to improving diversity and representation in girls’ sport, through creating a community where every girl has a pathway to ensure a lifelong love of sport.

Our 3 pillars: Outreach, Camps and Legacy, improve the lives of young people through sport by breaking down barriers to participation, providing safe and accessible spaces for girls to play sport, and building confidence.

Our why

Studies have found that in recent years, youth participation in sport has been too low. Less than 50% of young people in England meet the recommended daily activity levels.

These statistics are worse in London than in the rest of the country, and worse again for girls and young people from lower socio-economic backgrounds.

Our aim is to change this by bringing more sports into more communities, breaking barriers to sport, and creating diverse female role models to inspire a generation of young women to fulfil their potential.

  • Children and young people of Black, Asian and other ethnicities are the least likely to be active.

    [Sport England]

  • In 2023, 53% of children in England (3.9 million) were inactive.

    [Sport England]

  • Youth from lower socioeconomic status and ethnic minority children participate in sports less.

    [UK Sport]

  • 64% of girls will have quit sports by the time they have finished puberty (16-17).
